The Story Behind Jungo

With decades of combined soccer coaching experience, the creators of Jungo have worked with thousands of soccer players, many of whom went on to play collegiately. Since 1998, the coaches at Jungo have successfully placed over 300 players in college soccer programs. Those players have received in excess of $2.8 million in athletic scholarships.  Over the years, the college placement and recruiting process has changed, but the methods have not. Before Jungo, it was flawed, convoluted, confusing, overwhelming, expensive, and time consuming for all involved.

The demand for a better way to rate, track, and recruit youth soccer players is clear. Here’s a look at the numbers:

  • US Youth Soccer Association reported in 1990 there were 1.6 million soccer players registered in the US; by 2014 there were over 3 million.

  • Approximately 3,100 US soccer clubs are competing for better ways to evaluate talent and track development from U6-U19, as well as improve communication with players, families, and level-appropriate college programs in accordance with NCAA rules and regulations.

  • In 2015, ScholarshipStats.com estimated there were 791,983 players between the ages of 14-18, but often lack the knowledge, guidance, feedback, or the resources to successfully navigate the college placement process.

  • Many of these 791,983 players are seeking a match with one of the 1,673 college soccer programs in the United States, including 1,562 women's programs and 1,399 men’s programs, according to ScholarshipStats.com.

At Jungo Sports, we worked tirelessly as club directors, coaches, and college placement directors with multiple clubs over the course of several decades, evaluating players, and helping them achieve their dreams of playing college soccer. Then, an idea was born. How can we radically improve the process for the player, the clubs, and college programs? The result is Jungo Sports.
